Celebrating 10 years of Training
The Water Academy is an accredited water service sector Training Provider. We provide vocational training to water and wastewater treatment process controllers as well as to water and wastewater reticulation and distribution servicemen.
We also offer the necessary water and wastewater process engineering and quality management services (QMS) in order to support and sustain the delivery of quality water services. The training is provided in either a short course, skills programme format or as multi level full qualifications and learnerships. Qualifications are also available through the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). The short courses target specific scarce and critical site skills needs, while the full qualifications enrich the site with necessary skills and knowledge and provide a career path to employees.
Our training and water and wastewater process engineering support services enable the water sector to provide quality and cost effective services and “clean water for all” through the development and of its staffs skills and knowledge. |

Celebrating 10 years of Training
Our training systems are unique, they combine the acquisition of knowledge with practical skills in a single training programme. The water services training programmes are outcomes based, the target knowledge and skills outcomes are defined at the start of a programme, and the students or learners competency is assessed against these target outcomes at the end of the programme.
Our vocational training is provided between National Qualifications Framework (NQF) levels 1 to 5. All courses are registered and accredited by the South African Qualification Authority (SAQA) through the Energy and Water Sector. Education and Training Authority (ESETA) as well as the Local Government Sector Education and Training Authority (LGSETA). |

Our Water sector vocational training programmes and process engineering support services include:
- Water sector short courses and skills programmes between NQF 1 to 5 to include Blue Drop / Green Drop Courses
- Full Water Sector Qualification between NQF 1 to 4
- Process Engineering Support Services, including process performance auditing, assessments and trouble shooting services.
- Water and wastewater quality management services (QMS).
- Speciality short courses on core water treatment including coagulation, flocculation, settling, filtration, chlorination and health and safety.
- Speciality short courses on core wastewater treatment including inlet works, settling, activated sludge, chlorination and health and safety.
- Speciality short courses on core reticulation and distribution series including pipes and fittings, trenching and shoring, backfilling, laying and joining pipes, disinfection and leak detection.
